"Rev caves are the only thing that stops me from OSRS gold being compassionate towards them," reads one response on Reddit at a RuneScape thread about Venezuelan RuneScape players. "Nothing frustrates me walking in every world and being attacked by an army of rune crossbows and snake bandanas." "Jagex has to do something about these Venezuelans," the other RuneScape player wrote, adding:"I do not care in their real-life circumstance. They play with RuneScape solely for financial gain and it's ruining the market. They offer nothing to RuneScape, they don't interact within the neighborhood "
Whenever some RuneScape players share stories in their negative connections with Venezuelans, other RuneScape players, such as Pip Johnson, aren't as critical about them. In fact, Johnson sympathises with the problem that Venezuelan RuneScape players have found themselves, and describes his experience with a single Venezuelan RuneScape participant as"the first real experience" he's had with the other RuneScape player online in more than 15 years, after he was gifted things and given guidance about the best methods to level up. "I do think the fact that the economy is in shambles is terrible, and I don't blame anybody there for making money in almost any way they can, regardless of any effect it might have on RuneScape," Johnson says.
"Any one of us could do exactly the same." There is an influx of memes on websites like Reddit parodying the scenario which RuneScape players have seen themselves. Johnson believes that they have become an easy target from the RuneScape community for people seeking to make jokes at somebody else's expense. "Some RuneScape players believe RuneScape players are taking advantage of RuneScape for personal gain and [that] they should not be," he continues. "There's also a great deal of racism in the online gambling community. Since they're so prevalent venezuelans are an easy target. Their population in RuneScape has become a bit of a meme in the community and this brings even more attention to them specifically."
The inventor of the controversial Reddit post detailing how to kill Venezuelan RuneScape players at RuneScape, who wants to be understood only as Sam, informs Polygon his post was misinterpreted by readers, and was only supposed to be a"dark joke" comparing Venezuelan RuneScape players to bots. He says he had been amazed at how fast the thread escalated to racist comments. Asked if he felt guilty seeing the answers to the ribbon, along with buy RS gold the impact that encouraging RuneScape players to aim RuneScape players from Venezuela could have on that group, he says:"I mean, if there was a situation where someone lost four hours of farming, I'd surely feel guilty. Let me be clear: I do believe [this ] if anybody or me was actually having an effect on peoples' lives doing this, we would feel guilty. I think what disturbs people is the possibility of the affecting people, though that's unrealistic."
